Speech, language and communication skills develop in everyday situations throughout the day at home and school. This is a workshop for staff and parents working with children in both Early Years and School Age. Makaton uses speech with signs (gestures) and symbols (pictures) to help people communicate.
By attending this workshop you will:
- Find out about what Makaton is and who uses it
- Discover the benefits of using Makaton signing
- Learn some Makaton signs and symbols
Entry Criteria
Children who benefit from Makaton will have one or more of the following:
- A short attention span
- Difficulties understanding spoken language
- Difficulties using spoken language to communicate
- A severe speech disorder
How to Book
This course is by invitation only as recommended by a Speech and Language Therapist.
Places are strictly limited to 15 participants per workshop and a maximum of 3 adults per child may attend together.
Please note: As of 01.09.22 a penalty fee may be incurred for non-attendance.
